PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Shree Swaminarayan Gyanpith, Salvav, under the guidance of its founder Pujya Keshavcharandasji Purani Swami, inspired by Lord Shree Swaminarayan for the last 35 years, activities of 'Sadavidya Pravartan' and 'Sarvajiv Hitavah' are being carried out uninterruptedly in Valsad and Dang districts. Tribal Mass Wedding Ceremonies, Tribal Social Improvement Activities, Construction of Cultural/Religious Centers for Maintaining Tribal Identity and Religious Faith, Educational Kits for Tribal Students, and Four Activities in Different Tribal Villages We are doing this in collaboration with social service organizations.
In tribal areas, agriculture is the only means of subsistence and due to the lack of an irrigation system, only a few crops can be harvested. Agriculture depends on the monsoon. In such circumstances, they have to leave home in search of work to gain capital. Only the saints of Swaminarayan Gyanpith can plan to distribute around 10,000 mango seedlings in a remote village not only as a program but also for the long-term and economic progress of the visionary tribes as well as protection of the environment and supply of sweet fruits to the society.
Mango is known as the King of fruits, and it is eaten by people of all age groups from the younger generation to the elder generations. The fruit is in great demand as it is a seasonal fruit. It is a profit-making income for the tribal farmers. While the mango tree is not only a means of livelihood but also a means of protecting the environment, the government has been forced to launch a campaign with the slogan "One Child, One Tree" to plant trees on a large scale in the face of urbanization. Even before the launch of this campaign, Swaminarayan Gyanpith's resolution to distribute 10,000 mango seedlings has taken a step towards environmental conservation. The project has been implemented by the organization with a view to adapting the climate and soil fertility in areas like Kaprada and producing fruits that are in demand in the market.
Shree Swaminarayan Gyanpith, Salvav has distributed around 10,000 mango saplings to Tribal farmers in the interior villages of Valsad district. On this occasion, the Minister of State for Tribes and Forest Environment Ramanbhai Patkar, Members of Parliament, MLAs, and other dignitaries were present. According to the data shared by the Forest Department of Gujarat, Valsad district has a total of 915.73sq.km of forest cover. Mango sapling distribution in the remote areas of the district will also lead to an increase in the forest cover of the district, making it a healthy place to live.
The program was coordinated with the blessings of Pujya Purani Swami of Salvav, Vapi under the guidance of Sant Shastri Swami Kapiljivandasji and Swami Vigyan Vallabhdasji. The program aims to enable poor tribal farmers to earn a fixed income every year from the fertile and income-generating mango tree in the local environment and earn a living. This would lead to an increase in environmental sustainability by increasing the forest cover of the district.
The Mango saplings were first selected from the farm nursery, which produced fruits in a short period of time. These saplings were distributed to the tribal farmers. They would be planted as well as taken care of by the farmers. The organization also commits the farmer to the fact that the mango crop can only be grown using fully organic natural fertilizers, without the use of any chemical pesticides. So mango fruit is healthy. Thus the health as well as the nutritional integrity of the mango fruit is also taken into consideration. The fruits of the plants would be then sold by the farmers and would make profit out of the saplings.
If due to certain circumstances the plants do not grow or they do not bear fruits, they would be replaced by the members of the Trust with the new ones. In case the farmers are inefficient in selling their produce in the market, our trust would be helping the farmers for the same. The farmers are also provided with small microfinance loans by the Trust.
The tribal brothers and sisters of Kaprada are committed to realizing this project of the saints. They also know that the blessings and cooperation of the saints are bringing about a definite change in their lives. And he will be able to support himself and his family well but also contributes to the work of society and nation-building.
This will be a significant step towards a new Green as well as Healthy Nation.
LONG TERM IMPACT:
1. The project will help to improve the financial status of the families, inspiring others to follow suit. 2. This will help to bind them to the Hindu culture and spirituality.
3. Providing the citizen in the remote areas to live a healthy life, by supplying nutritious fruits to the society.
4. Providing a fixed income for the lower-income families.
